Google Translate Gains iOS 7 Keyboard And Improved Handwriting Input Support

February 19, 2014
Google has just updated Google Translate for iOS to version 2.1. A couple of days after the launch of iOS 7 in September last year, Google updated the app to version 2.0. While Google Translate 2.0 introduced a streamlined and modern user interface that's in line with the design language of the new operating system, it didn't come with an iOS 7-optimized keyboard and status bar. Well, the newly released Google Translate 2.1 accordingly amends that with a proper keyboard and status bar for iOS 7. In addition, the new version of the app adds handwriting input support for more languages: Arabic, Esperanto, Gujarati, Hebrew, Javanese, Maltese, Maori, Marathi, Persian, Punjabi, Telugu, and Zulu. Handwriting input support was also introduced in Google Translate 2.0, enabling you to write words with your finger to enter text for many of the app's supported languages, including ones that don't use Roman script. Google Translate 2.1 is available now in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. For more recent Google iOS app news, see also: Super!
