MLB.com At Bat Updated With Complete Redesign For iOS 7
February 25, 2014
About a month ahead of the start of the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) season, MLB.com At Bat has been updated to version 7.0 for iOS 7.
In its last major update, which arrived last September, the official app of MLB gained several improvements along with iOS 7 compatibility. Now, with its newly issued 7.0 update, MLB.com At Bat has hit a home run for iOS 7 with a complete redesign for the operating system, featuring a simpler and flatter interface, of course.
MLB.com At Bat 7.0 also features inline video playback and a new league-wide scoreboard functionality for single-tap expansion.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, MLB.com At Bat 7.0 is available now in the App Store for free.
The app requires a subscription fee of $19.99 per year or $2.99 per month for the 2014 season, from spring training through the World Series. MLB.TV Premium subscribers get complete access to the app for free. During the past holiday season, MLB offered At Bat 2014 gift subscriptions, but it appears that they are no longer available.
The 2014 Major League Baseball season is set to begin on March 22 in Sydney, with the North American season scheduled to start with opening night on March 30.
As reported last month, MLB has installed iBeacons in 20 parks ahead of opening day on March 31. The iBeacons are expected to work in conjunction with the MLB.com At the Ballpark app to offer iDevice-toting spectators with ballpark point-of-interest mapping and other relevant information.
