Boxcar 2 Updated With Account Registration, IFTTT Support And More Features

March 14, 2014
Have you been notified yet of the first major update to Boxcar 2? Well, that's what we're here for. Released last December, Boxcar 2 is the iOS 7 revision of Boxcar, the popular personalized alerts inbox app for iPhone and iPod touch. As might be expected, the app's first major update brings some significant improvements. First of all, the update introduces account registration. As a result, you can now register a Boxcar 2 account. Registration is completely optional, but if you do opt for it, it allows you to receive the same notifications on multiple devices. Note that if you have an account with the original Boxcar app, it will not work with Boxcar 2 since it's from a separate platform. You have to create a new account if you want to register with Boxcar 2. The new update to Boxcar 2 also adds support for the popular conditional action automation service IFTTT. Now, you can receive IFTTT notifications right within the app after creating your preferred workflow. You can also create a filter to have your IFTTT notifications in a separate box. As it happens, the update also brings improvements to filters. There's the reworked interface for filter creation, allowing you to create a filter or box to list all emails or all custom notifications. Filters are now also stored on Boxcar 2's servers. Boxcar 2 now also lets you select a mail or Twitter client to open when tapping an email or tweet notification from the Notification Center. Note, though, that this integration is for opening a chosen client only; there's no deep-linking yet for opening a specific account or tweet within the client. The update also includes some interface tweaks. As outlined by Boxcar 2 developer ProcessOne:
  • Improved welcome and upgrade screens. They offer you the chance to register you account on first launch.
  • Added one-line preview of notification in articles list.
  • Ability to swipe back from article to article list even if toolbar is hidden.
  • Back and next button on internal browser.
  • We now ask on Twitter account addition if you would like to subscribe to all timeline push, to help you set your account.
  • Reduced size of article in list.
  • Design tweaks on most screens.
Moreover, the update includes bug fixes and updated localizations for French and German. The new version of Boxcar 2 is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
