Cydia Tweak: Aria Promises Users The Music App Apple Should Have Made

March 23, 2014

Aria has launched for iOS 7, bringing jailbreakers a revamped Music app that features queuing, smart grids, an enhanced “Now Playing” view, and much more. You can pick up the package for $1.99 on the Cydia Store, and the new jailbreak tweak is optimized for ARM64-devices.

Over in the jailbreak tweak’s release notes, the package’s developer explains that Aria “aims to improve the user expeience of Apple’s Music app, bringing some of the most wanted features.”

The enhancements made available to users come in the form of four major additions to the iOS Music application.

First, users of Aria can queue items in the application using the iOS action menu (the “copy and paste menu,” that is). “Just hold down a song to get three options: play now, next, last,” the package’s release notes add.

Second, “Artists” and “Albums” can be displayed together inside one single grid, making room on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen for other Music app categories.

Over at the “Now Playing” screen, users of Aria can customize its appearance in order for the interface to replicate Apple’s free Remote application, and “Endless Playing” is also added by the jailbreak tweak (meaning once the current queue or album ends, shuffled playing begins).

Finally, a handful of more minor UI alterations – including rounded volume buttons – have also been added to the Music app, and countless performance enhancements have been made.

Options can be configured from inside of the built-in Settings app, and here Aria adds a dedicated preferences pane. The developer of Aria has also told us that an updated version fixing bugs and enhancing the jailbreak tweak’s performance is also expected to launch in the coming days.

If you’re interested in enhancing the iOS Music app, Aria for iOS 7 could be exactly what you’ve been searching for. As mentioned, you can pick up the package for $1.99 on the Cydia Store, and it’s optimized for ARM64-devices.
