Time To Cool Off With The App-Enabled Aros Air Conditioner From Quirky And GE

March 19, 2014
While the Nest Learning Thermostat makes it easy to control the air conditioning system across an entire house, some people just use a smaller window unit. Quirky and GE are coming to the rescue with the introduction of the app-enabled Aros air conditioner. Much like the Nest, the Aros is a “smart” unit that connects to a home Wi-Fi network. And with the companion Wink app, users can control the air conditioner from anywhere. The app also tracks energy usage, learns your schedule, and turns on and off based on an iPhone’s GPS location. Able to cool medium rooms of around 350 square feet, the Aros offers three cooling modes and three fan speeds. Here’s a quick video about the Aros. Click here if you can’t see it. You can preorder the Aros now for $300 directly from Amazon.com. It is slated to ship sometime in early May, just in time for the hot summer season. After its release, Quirky expects the Aros to be sold at a number of other retailers like Best Buy and Home Depot.
