Cydia Tweak: KeyShortcut Brings Copy, Paste And Select All To The iOS Keyboard
Wouldn’t it be easier to type on iOS if shortcuts for copy, paste, and select all were readily available to access? Fortunately, one new jailbreak tweak makes such a change to Apple’s mobile operating system. Called KeyShortcut, the new package is available to download free of charge on the Cydia Store, and it’s optimized for both iOS 7 and ARM64-devices.
Once downloaded and installed, users will find that they’re able to hold down the “c” letter on the iOS keyboard in order to copy text. If, on the other hand, you hold down “v,” this sees iOS paste the contents of the clipboard into the current text field; holding “a” selects all of the text in the current text field, too.
No additional preferences pane is added to the Settings app, nor is an application icon added to the Home screen; instead, KeyShortcut works under-the-hood and is enabled immediately upon being installed. At the same time, jailbreakers will need to remove the package from inside the Cydia application in order to uninstall KeyShortcut from their iOS device.
For me, KeyShortcut is a smart jailbreak tweak and it’s something I hope Apple takes inspiration from for a future version of its iOS. It’s no secret that Cupertino has borrowed from the jailbreak scene in the past when it comes to updating its mobile OS, and with any luck we’ll see KeyShortcut’s functionality appear in iOS 8, or perhaps iOS 9.
Until then, folks with a jailbroken iOS device can download KeyShortcut now. As mentioned, it’s available on the Cydia Store free of charge, and the package is optimized for iOS 7 and ARM64-devices.
