Prank Your Friends With This Fun Device That Looks Like An iPhone

April 25, 2014
Have that special friend (or enemy) who really needs a good prank played on them? Well then take a look at snagging the TV-B-Gone SHP. TUAW purchased the gizmo from Cornfield Electronics and has a nice take on the device. Along with being able to turn off 90 percent of the TVs in the world, this special version is also designed to look like an iPhone (of the cheap Chinese knockoff variety). So it shouldn’t be all that obvious if you ever have the guts to use it in public. Pushing the fake home button cycles through the different remote codes. It can apparently turn TVs off from up to 100 meters away. The joker at TUAW also says the device has a number of codes that Apple uses for its own remote. They successfully turned off a Mac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro. I didn’t find anything regarding that in the documentation, and we haven’t been able to test one ourselves, so beware on that claim. It can be ordered now from Cornfield and will set you back $34.95.
