Apple Allowing Developers To Give Out Promo Codes For In-App Purchases

Apple has begun to roll out a new feature that is sure to please developers. According to Jeff Scott, Apple is now seemingly allowing developers to issue promo codes for the free redemption of in-app purchase content.
Previously, developers could only hand out promo codes for the actual app itself.
As you can see, redeeming a code for in-app content works exactly the same. In this case a Handful of Gold from EA’s Real Racing 3 has been downloaded.
Interestingly, Scott also noted that if someone tries to redeem a code for in-app content, the app in question is automatically downloaded for them, which is definitely a nice touch.
With in-app purchases becoming ubiquitous on the App Store, it’s nice to see Apple making it easier for developers, and app reviewers. For now, the codes only seem to work in the United States.
Here at AppAdvice, we use promo codes from developers to look at apps before they are released so we can post news or a review right as the title hits the store.
Back in November, Apple increased the amount of promo codes that can be given away for each version of an app to 100.
