Apple's iPad Split-Screen Multitasking On iOS 8 Not Yet Ready For WWDC Unveiling

A couple of weeks ago, rumors began circling about the likely introduction of a split-screen multitasking feature for iPad on iOS 8, expected to be introduced by Apple at next week's Worldwide Developer Conference. Now, it appears that the feature won't be unveiled at the upcoming event after all.
As noted by MacRumors, Brian Chen, technology reporter at The New York Times, has tweeted that "the split-screen feature for iOS 8 isn't ready yet and won't be shown at WWDC. Still a work in progress."
According to earlier reports, split-screen multitasking is being designed to work on the iPad Air in landscape mode, allowing users to run and interact with two apps at once.

Whether the capability will also run on the smaller iPad mini with Retina display and be extended to the iPhone is yet unknown.
The continuing absence of the feature on the iPad has long been mocked by Apple's competitors, particularly Samsung and Microsoft, whose respective ads for the Galaxy Tab and Surface allude to the iPad's lack of support for simultaneously displaying multiple apps.
Although it's not going to be previewed at WWDC, the functionality is still expected to debut in iOS 8.
