Cydia Tweak: SearchSettings Adds A Speedy Search Field To The Settings App

Cydia Tweak: SearchSettings Adds A Speedy Search Field To The Settings App

May 20, 2014

SearchSettings is the second recent release from the popular jailbreak developer Ryan Petrich (@rpetrich). Replicating a feature from Samsung's iPhone 5s-competing Galaxy S5, the package adds a useful search field to the built-in Settings app, allowing users to more easily navigate their handset's various preferences and options.

You can download the package free of charge right now from Petrich's beta repository (more on this below), and the jailbreak tweak is optimized for iOS 7 and ARM64-devices. Once installed, SearchSettings indeed adds a search field to the Settings app: this appears at the top of the application, and produces a list of interactive results similar to the iOS 7 Spotlight interface.

Touching a search result allows users to quickly navigate over to that particular area of the Settings app, meaning users of the package will no longer need to dive through countless menus in order to find the options they're looking to adjust.

The one downside to SearchSettings is that it can only perform searches within individual submenus. As such, you'll need to navigate to the menu you're looking to search before inputting terms into SearchSettings' search field. This could be an attempt to preserve the jailbreak tweak's speed, however, since one of the package's best features is that it's lightning fast.

Earlier today, we told you about another of Ryan Petrich's recent releases: WallCycler. This smart package allows users to have their iPhone auto-cycle through countless wallpapers each time the handset is unlocked. You can also link this jailbreak tweak with a preconfigured Activator action, too.

Both packages, SearchSettings and WallCycler, are available to download now from Ryan Petrich's beta repository. In order to access them, you'll first need to have added the repository's address to your list of “Sources” in the Cydia app. This is:

From here, both jailbreak tweaks will be available to download and install free of charge.
