KakaoTalk Launches Official Mac App, Debuts New 'Search Chat' Feature
After announcing its merger with the Korean Internet portal Daum, the Korean messaging app company KakaoTalk has hit another milestone: its debut on the Mac platform.
KakaoTalk Messenger for Mac is indeed now available, following the success of KakaoTalk on other popular platforms including iOS. Of course, the new Mac app supports instant messaging, either one-on-one or in a group, and syncs chats with its mobile counterparts.
The Mac app also features remote logout and lock mode. “Remote logout allows you to keep your KakaoTalk secure at all times — no need to worry if you step away from your desk in a hurry,” the KakaoTalk team notes. “Plus enable lock mode to keep your data safe automatically.”
KakaoTalk for Mac also comes with the ability to receive and download a variety of files, including images, videos, audio files, documents, and compressed files of 57 different file formats.
Coinciding with the release of its Mac client, KakaoTalk has also launched a new “search chat” feature on PC, allowing users to search through any conversation by keyword. This feature is set to become available on iOS and other mobile platforms later this year.
