Cydia Tweak: Orangered Brings Reddit Push Notifications To iOS 7

If you're a big Reddit user, a recently launched jailbreak tweak called Orangered for iOS 7 might be of interest. Because this smart package, which can be downloaded for $0.99 on the Cydia Store, adds push-style notifications for a huge selection of third-party Reddit iOS clients.
Strictly speaking, Orangered doesn't bring actual push notifications to Reddit, but what it does do is offer users access to auto-fetch cycles for their favorite Reddit app and delivers content using iOS notifications. Through checking your Reddit inbox on a recurring basis, Orangered essentially brings push notifications to the service -- something Reddit, which is also working on its own iOS app, has yet to offer.
The Reddit iOS clients supported by Orangered include: Alien Blue, Alien Blue HD, narwhal, Cake, Aliens, amrc, Redditor, BaconReader, Reddito, Redd, Upvote, Flippit, MyReddit, Mars, OJ Free, OJ, Karma, Train, and iAlien.
Over in the jailbreak tweak's preferences, users can configure Orangered for iOS 7 to auto-check their Reddit inbox at set intervals, or they can choose to link the package with a preconfigured Activator action. This option lets users quickly check their Reddit inbox on-demand using a simple gesture; given that fetch puts a strain on iOS battery life, this latter method might indeed work better for jailbreakers.
You'll also need to link Orangered up with your chosen Reddit client, and a "Mark Read" toggle allows users to have the package mark their Reddit items as "read" once they've been delivered via a push notification.
All in all, Orangered for iOS 7 is a smart jailbreak tweak that Reddit users should check out. As mentioned, it's available on the Cydia Store for $0.99 and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch under iOS 7.
