The folks at Wikipad have announced a version of their popular Gamevice Android gamepad for Apple's iPad mini.
Coming later this year, iOS gamers can sign-up for updates on the product's development over at a dedicated Gamevice website. Pricing or an anticipated release date have yet to be confirmed, however lots of images and technical specifications for the Gamevice are available.
As you can see, the Gamevice will offer iPad mini owners two joysticks, a D-pad, four buttons, and a couple of extra option keys on the front of the device. Around the other side are two triggers and a couple of bumper buttons, too. Wikipad explains:
You love your Mini. We love your Mini too – the versatility, the portability, that luscious Retina display, and all those games. In fact, we love it so much that we designed the Gamevice to give it the only thing it needed to become the handheld gaming device that puts all the others to shame. No more Twister-style fingertip control schemes. No more propping up your Mini against the airplane seat back so you can use both hands. Just pick up, play, and mash away.Wikipad's Gamevice will be compatible with any iOS app that supports Apple's MFi (Made for iPhone) gamepad standard, meaning the accessory will be ready to use alongside thousands of platformers, racing games, shooters, and RPGs. We've heard that Apple is planning on offering iOS device users its own list of MFi gamepad-compatible applications, which will make titles compatible with Wikipad's product easier to seek out. Until that happens, however, Phonejoy does a good job of amassing these titles and displaying them in one place. As mentioned, you can sign-up for updates on Wikipad's Gamevice over at the accessory's dedicated website. We'll let you know once it's available to order. [gallery columns="2"]
