TouchPad Is Back: Adds An iOS 7 Redesign, New Dark Theme

June 17, 2014
TouchPad, the popular $6.99 app that can turn your iOS device into a touchscreen remote for a PC or Mac, has been brought back to life by its new developer MartianCraft. Crucially, TouchPad has received a redesign for iOS 7 as of its recently released 5.0 update, and the app's updated user interface (UI) looks great running on the seventh iteration of Apple's mobile OS. Along the top of the screen in TouchPad users can access three buttons -- "Keyboard," "Specials," and "Media" -- and a dedicated "Settings" pane also allows iOS device owners to configure TouchPad on their iPhone or iPad. However, that's not all TouchPad's 5.0 update brings. Because a new "Dark Mode," which can be enabled using a dedicated toggle button, allows users to switch TouchPad's color scheme over to black and red when the lights are out. Take a look: Besides the above, bug fixes and performance improvements have been added in the application, meaning TouchPad should now perform better than ever. TouchPad was previously developed by Edovia, the developer behind the popular Screens application for iOS and OS X. Some time ago, Edovia halted its work on TouchPad, deciding instead to concentrate on Screens, and as such the remote control application fell by the wayside (our last article on TouchPad was published in November 2011). Fortunately, MartianCraft acquired TouchPad and development is now continuing on the application. As mentioned, TouchPad can be downloaded on the App Store for $6.99, and it's optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. [gallery columns="2"]
