It looks like BioShock for iOS could be in development

July 25, 2014

BioShock, the popular console game, could be launching for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, according to a recent Twitter update.

The update, posted from 2K Games’ international Twitter account (@2KInternational), includes an image taken from BioShock which features the suggestive text, “Come bite the Apple!” Publisher 2K Games also includes the Twitter hashtag, #Discuss.

Here’s the tweet:

Some, including TouchArcade, have interpreted this update as meaning that a BioShock port could be iOS-bound, with the mention of “Apple” naturally referring to Cupertino’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Given that iOS 8 includes Metal, a new technology capable of producing high-end, “console quality” graphics on iOS devices, a port of BioShock could be scheduled for this fall. TouchArcade even questions whether BioShock for iOS could be “the first of (hopefully many) Metal-optimized iOS 8 titles.”

Besides the aforementioned suggestive Twitter update, little else concerning a BioShock iOS port is known – save for the fact that such a release has been rumored since 2008. Hopefully we’ll know more soon; we’ll keep you updated with further information as we receive it.
