NPR has just unveiled an interesting and unique title on the App Store. NPR One is designed to offer a stream of public radio and news and feature stories curated for users.
The app brings NPR content from stations all across the U.S. It starts by providing the latest news headlines and then moves to longer stories. Users can easily pause, skip ahead, rewind, or share a particular story with friends.
Marking a story “interesting” will help the app curate other content for you to listen to. The app also remembers a user’s history as they go so they will never hear the same story twice. Fans can also search for specific shows, stations, and podcasts.
NPR talked more about the app in a blog post:
With NPR One there is a new way to listen to public radio, one that's responsive to your tastes, your routines and your local interests. Open the app, and you'll hear the best news and programming from NPR and your local public radio station. As you listen you can mark individual stories as 'interesting' so it can better tailor the content just for you. It blends NPR's editorial judgment with your personal tastes and creates moments of discovery – things you didn't even know you'd find, sent right to your smart phone or tablet.Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, NPR One can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
