Touted as the "masterpiece" in SNK's The King of Fighters (KOF) series, KOF '98 is a special edition of the franchise in that it features most of the characters from its predecessors, from KOF '94 to KOF '97. As noted by SNK, KOF '98 features 38 playable characters:
In addition to the series’ iconic characters, “Iori” and “American Sports” teams as well as “Shingo Yabuki” and “Rugal Bernstein” edit characters return in “KOF ‘98” to complete the gorgeous roster of 38 characters and for a never ending dream match!KOF '98 for iOS features two main gameplay modes, Extra and Advanced, plus an auxiliary Training mode. It also features the four-button configuration of the original Neo Geo game with an alternative six-button control scheme and support for Bluetooth game controllers. The iOS port also offers multiplayer duels via Bluetooth. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, The King of Fighters '98 is available now on the App Store for $3.99. As we previously noted, The King of Fighters ’98 is SNK’s fourth iOS release in the KOF series, following the iOS editions of The King of Fighters ’97, The King of Fighters-i-, and The King of Fighters-i-2012. A month ago, SNK released The Rhythm of Fighters, an iOS rhythm-based fighting game that features iconic tracks from KOF and other traditional SNK game series.
