Spotify Now Lets You View Your Play Queue And Notifies You Of Playlist Duplicates

July 3, 2014
Just a few days after it was officially updated with the ability to search for downloaded music when offline, Spotify for iOS has received another notable update. The latest update to the official iOS app of the popular music streaming service of the same name introduces several new features to its iPhone edition. First off, Spotify now lets you view your play queue on iPhone. Just tap the queue icon at the top right corner of the Now Playing screen to do so. In the play queue view (an example of which is shown above), you can perform certain actions to each item by taping the ellipsis button beside it. The new version of Spotify for iPhone also comes with a new dialog box (shown below) that appears every time you try to add a song to a playlist that already includes the song. This way, you can avoid having duplicate songs in your playlists. The new Spotify update also brings new filtering and sorting options in the Your Music section. To access these options, just scroll to the top of any list in Your Music. There you'll see a new search bar that you can use to filter the items in your collection. In addition, beside the search bar is a new icon that you tap to bring up the filter option to show only items that are available offline and the options to sort items by title or recently added. The new version of Spotify for iOS is available now on the App Store for free. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. Spotify for iPhone and iPod touch was previously updated early last month with a single option for syncing all items in Your Music for offline listening. Prior to that update, Spotify for iOS received its biggest update yet last April with a new interface that’s in line with the design of its Mac and Web counterparts. Later that month, it was updated with the aforementioned Your Music section for saving, organizing and browsing favorite music.
