The Fleksy keyboard app will support over 40 languages when Apple releases iOS 8
July 10, 2014
When Apple launches iOS 8 this fall, the popular Fleksy Keyboard app will support up to 40 languages. This is significant news since iOS 8 opens up the keyboard to developers, allowing users to choose their favorite input method or layout systemwide.
Fleksy’s announcement comes as it launches a beta update for Android users. This update features support for 15 new languages and accuracy improvements.
According to Kosta Eleftheriou, founder and CEO of Fleksy:
Today’s update represents a major, cross-platform engineering milestone for us. We are excited to confirm that are on schedule to support a total of over 40 languages, for both Android and iOS, out of beta by this fall.Fleksy is expected to launch a public iOS 8 beta very soon. Would-be beta participants can register online. In the meantime, the latest version of Fleksy Keyboard is available on the App Store. The universal app is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. A number of apps, including Evomail, Launch Center Pro, and Matcha are compatible. In May, Fleksy was named the fastest smartphone keyboard in the world by Guinness World Records. Apple is expected to release iOS 8 to the public in September.
