Apple offering free Newsstand magazine issues ahead of summer bank holiday in UK

August 19, 2014

In celebration of the upcoming bank holiday in the U.K., Apple this week is offering certain Newsstand magazine issues at no cost to customers of the U.K. App Store.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple is featuring five free Newsstand magazine issues every day from today, Aug. 18, through Friday, Aug. 22. Apparently, the company is doing so to promote summer reading ahead of the late summer bank holiday on Monday, Aug. 25.

Today’s offerings are the current issues of NME Magazine, Glamour Magazine, The Economist, T3 Magazine, and Focus Magazine. Next up, as shown in the banner image above, are the current issues of GQ Magazine, Q Music Magazine, Photography Week, Red Magazine, and, once again, The Economist.

To check out the free selection, just click or tap the featured “Summer Reading” banner at the top of the main page of the App Store on Mac or iOS.

Upon download of their corresponding Newsstand apps, the issues are accessible through the preinstalled Newsstand container app on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Note that subsequent issues already require in-app purchases.
