First off, version 3.0 of Pictello finally optimizes and redesigns the app for iOS 7 and iOS 8, which is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Pictello 3.0 also adds support for word prediction, which not only reduces typing but also builds early literacy skills in young users. Pictello’s word prediction feature is currently available in the following 15 languages: English, Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
The updated app also boasts a new “speak as you type” feature, which lets users listen to what they’re typing by letter, word, sentence or paragraph.
It also adds so-called switches to stories. Switches can be used to play back a story or turn pages. An iOS device’s screen can also be used as a single switch with Auto Play.
Moreover, Pictello 3.0 offers more accessibility with its customizable behavior with repeated taps. “Help your happy tappers be more functional,” AssistiveWare notes, “ignore repeated taps during playback, or use them to pause and resume audio or video.”
The latest update to Pictello also includes the following improvements:
- New French voice, Manon
- Full screen photo taking
- Improved photo picker
- Refined story creation wizard
- Announcements and news messages in your Options
- A few small enhancements
