Apple officially announces its two new smartphones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus

September 9, 2014

Apple has announced the latest version of its ubiquitous smartphone, and it’s called iPhone 6 … and iPhone 6.

That’s right, Apple has officially introduced not one, but two new iPhones. Apple has long been rumored to be releasing two size versions of the new iPhone, a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model. And they’re finally, officially here.

A report emerged yesterday claiming that the smaller version would be called “iPhone 6,” while the larger one would be called “iPhone 6 Plus,” suggesting a revival of a branding suffix last used by Apple with the Macintosh Plus from 1986.
