Apple releases OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 8 and Public Beta 3

September 15, 2014

Apple has just released OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 8 and Public Beta 3. Registered developers and public beta testers can download the new software directly from the Mac App Store.

We’ll let you know if either of these new software versions contain any major changes.

Here’s a link for the complete release notes of Developer Preview 8.

Yosemite, also known as OS X 10.10, offers a substantial visual overhaul of the Mac operating system. It offers a modern, flat take on the UI, much like what is found in iOS 7.

Despite offering a number of integration features with iOS 8, which launches Wednesday, it will be a bit longer before Yosemite is ready for the public. It should arrive sometime in late October for free.

At least one of those integration features won’t arrive when iOS 8 is launched. Apple confirmed late last week that SMS Continuity will land in October.
