AppleCare+ program will soon expand to Australia
Just in time for a huge fall season of new products, Apple is planning to expand its AppleCare+ program to Australia. That’s according to a new report from MacRumors.
Apple Store employees in the country are currently receiving training on the service, and it could launch before the “iPhone 6” is slated to arrive. It will also be available for iPad and iPod touch purchases.
Originally launching back in 2011 in the United States for just the iPhone, the program has expanded to 13 other countries across the globe, including China, Japan, and more.
AppleCare+ offers a big advantage compared to the usual AppleCare that extends warranty protection for two years after purchase. With AppleCare+, users receive protection for up to two accidental damage incidents. Those do require a $79 service fee.
While pricing hasn’t been announced for Australia, it should be somewhere around the $99 fee in the United States.
AppleCare+ can be purchased online or inside Apple Retail Stores. Back in July, Apple extended the timeframe that buyers could purchase the protection. Instead of 30 days after a new device purchase, the window was doubled to 60 days.
