British carrier O2 hits the funny bone with a newspaper ad teasing Apple’s ‘iPhone 6’

September 1, 2014

British carrier O2 is enlisting our feline friends to help humorously tease the next-generation iPhone. The Verge’s Tom Warren shared an image, via Twitter, of a new newspaper ad from the company.

Here’s the complete text:

Unless it’s the new ……. , as it’s not out until ../../ ..

While I’m much more of a dog person myself, that is a pretty funny ad.

As you probably know, the “iPhone 6” is expected to be unveiled at a special media event next week – Tuesday, Sept. 9.

More than likely the 4.7-inch version of the handset will be available to purchase in the first wave of countries 10 days later, Friday, Sept. 19.

The larger model, sporting a 5.5-inch screen, should arrive around a month later. A new report today says that handset will be called the “iPhone Air.”

Both handsets, along with a faster A8 chip and an improved camera, will apparently feature NFC technology. That will be a major driver behind Apple’s rumored mobile payment solution.

Over the weekend, news leaked that Apple is teaming up with major payment providers American Express, Visa, and MasterCard for the program. That should allow users to pay for their purchases at brick-and-mortar stores by simply presenting their iPhone.
