Following China Mobile, China Telecom begins accepting preorders for Apple's 'iPhone 6'
China Telecom has launched a preorder campaign for the yet to be announced “iPhone 6.”
As noted by ZDNet, the third largest mobile carrier in China has begun accepting preorders for the next-generation iPhone, which isn’t expected to be officially announced by Apple until the company’s special media event next week.
On its new preorder webpage, China Telecom touts the so-called “iPhone 6″ (albeit with the word “iPhone” now blurred for some reason) with images and several key specifications of the handset apparently culled from the rumor mill.
According to the carrier, the iPhone 6′s 4.7-inch model has a display with a pixel density of 416 ppi, a faster A8 processor, a longer-lasting 2,100 mAh battery, an upgraded 3MP front camera, and an improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
China Telecom also goes with the rumors of the next-generation smartphone’s having two size versions, as it prompts customers to choose between 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch when preordering the device.
While it doesn’t provide any prices for the device, the carrier does promise a prepaid card worth ¥200 ($33) to each online registrant who eventually purchases an iPhone 6 from it.
China Telecom’s iPhone 6 preorder campaign appears just a few days after the launch of that of China Mobile, the largest mobile carrier in the world, which has reportedly attracted more than 33,000 preorders.
Online preorders for the iPhone 6 have been offered in China since as early as last July, particularly by unofficial sellers on Taobao, the largest consumer-to-consumer e-commerce site in the country.
Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 6 at its special media event on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
