Spotify updated with improved music discovery and new Ford Sync AppLink features

September 10, 2014

Spotify has just updated its official iOS app with several notable improvements.

First off, the latest update to Spotify for iOS offers improved music discovery as it lets you simply tap to see more releases from an artist while viewing an album from that artist.

The new version of the app also includes new capabilities for Spotify on Ford Sync AppLink. “Now you can enjoy Your Music, Browse and Radio on Ford Sync AppLink,” Spotify notes. “And see those preset numbers on your dashboard? Use them to store your favorite playlists, albums and artists.”

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, Spotify is available on the App Store for free.

The app was last updated last month with the ability to save entire albums to Your Music directly from album pages and additional language support for Finnish.

As reported a couple of days ago, Spotify has introduced two new video ad formats for its free music streaming service: Video Takeover and Sponsored Session. The latter type, demoed in the video below, is of greater interest to mobile listeners as it gives users of Spotify’s mobile apps, including Spotify for iOS, an option to watch a 15- or 30-second video ad in exchange for a 30-minute, ad-free music streaming session.
