It’s time for new iPhones. Earlier this week, Apple officially introduced the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Both handsets will hit the market next Friday, Sept. 19. Preorders started earlier today. In this edition, we’re focusing on a number of protection options for both new phones. And join us again next week, when we’ll be highlighting even more cases.
Defense 720: An interesting new case choice, the pictured Defense 720 offers a full-screen hard plastic cover that completely covers the screen, but still allows for full control. The rear of the handset is protected by a grippy and protective bumper surrounded by a sturdy frame. Available for the iPhone 6 only, buyers can select from three colors – black, blue, and pink. It costs $29.99.
Defense 360: Similar to the 720, the Defense 360 lets the beautiful handset shine through with a clear rear and screen cover. Available for the iPhone 6 only, it also costs $29.99.
Engage Folio: Available for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Folio also offers complete protection for the handset. The rear is covered by a clear plastic back while the screen can be protected by a leather-like front cover. You can store credit cards or a license in the inside cover’s card slots. It retails for $29.99, and buyers can select from a black, red, or white version.
Dash Folio One: A cousin to the Engage Folio, this case offers complete handset protection with a soft material. Along with credit card slots in the interior front cover, users can position their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus into a number of media viewing angles. It costs $29.99 and is only available in black.
Engage Plus: Adding a little bit of flair to an iPhone, the Engage Plus is highlighted by its metallic coating across the lower half of the cases and edges. It costs $29.99 and is for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Buyers can select from a gold or silver version.
Scene Plus: Another fashionable case, the Scene Plus offers a number of 3-D patterned accents. Only for the iPhone 6, it retails for $29.99, and there are four different color options available.
Scene: For the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Scene costs $19.99 and combines hard plastic rear protection with a rubber cover that protects the side of the handset. It is available in pink, gray, and black.
Spigen SGP is once again well prepared and has a number of cases for both handsets that can be ordered now. Here are some of my top choices.
Tough Armor: This case is one of my favorites for the iPhone 5s/5, and I’m glad to see that it is available for the new handsets. The inner soft shell features air cushion corners and a spider web pattern to help absorb shock. The exterior is made with an hard polycarbonate material. Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus options retail for $34.99. As an extra-added bonus, the Plus case includes an integrated stand. Buyers can select from a number of colors.
Neo Hybrid Metal: The pictured Neo Hybrid Metal’s diamond-cut aluminum frame helps to give it a premium look and feel. The iPhone itself is protected by a silicone shell with a textured grip in the middle. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus version both cost $34.99. It’s available in a number of color choices.
Thin Fit A: A lightweight case choice, the Thin Fit A weighs only 18 grams and adds less than a millimeter of thickness to the handset itself. The case for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is available in gold, sliver, slate, and gunmetal and costs $14.99.
If you’re looking for an iPhone 6 case, OtterBox definitely has you covered as all of its options can be ordered now. The iPhone 6 Plus editions are only listed as “coming soon.”
Defender: The iconic case from the company, the Defender offers three layers of protection with a two-piece internal polycarbonate shell and an integrated screen protector. OtterBox also includes a belt-clip holster. Buyers can select from a number of slipcover and shell colors. It costs $59.90.
Symmetry: If you’re looking for a less bulky option, the Symmetry Case provides a raised edge to help protect the screen and internal padding to help dissipate shock. It costs $39.95 and is now available in black or gray. A number of more fashionable options are coming soon.
Commuter: Costing $39.90, the pictured Commuter series offers an inner cushion and a hard outer shell to help protect the handset. OtterBox also includes a stick-on screen protector. It’s currently available in two different colors. The Commuter Wallet, which adds a hidden drawer in the case, is also in the works.
Urban Armor Gear
UAG’s case is available for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It is listed to ship on launch day, Friday, Sept. 19.

These inexpensive cases for only the iPhone 6 can be ordered now from the company’s site and are all scheduled to ship sometime next week.
PureView: The minimalistic and lightweight case choice, the PureView, as its name suggests, is made with a clear rear shell and a shock-absorbent rubber bumper. It’s available in black and gold and retails for $11.99.
Stealth Armor: A dual-layer design brings together both a shock-absorbent core with a tough exterior shell. Retailing for $17.99, you can select from a gray, gold, or silver version of the case.
Vault Slim Wallet: Along with protecting the iPhone, the pictured case can also hold up to three credit cards and some cash. It will set you back $14.99 and is available in black, green, and gold.
