Apple releases second beta version of iOS 8.1 to registered developers
Apple has just released the second beta version of iOS 8.1 for developers. It can be downloaded from the developer center or over-the-air if you have the first beta installed.
The second beta version arrives a little more than a week after the first edition landed in late September.
The major addition in iOS 8.1 looks to be Apple Pay, which can be used by the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple’s mobile payment system is rumored to launch on Monday, Oct. 20.
Also found in the first beta were specific references to a Touch ID sensor on an iPad. That suggests that the “iPad Air 2″ will indeed offer the biometric capability. Apple is expected to introduce the next-generation iPad Air, iPad mini, and more at a media event next week – Thursday, Oct. 16.
We’ll let you know if we find anything new in iOS 8.1 beta 2.
