Apple has just selected its latest App of the Week. This week’s selection, Pac-Man Friends, will be free to download for the next seven days.
Originally hitting the App Store in August, the latest Pac-Man game from Namco Bandai features the arcade character and a group of friends as they try to steer clear of those pesky ghosts – Pinky, Inky, and Clyde.
But when Pac-Man and friends gobble up a power pellet, the tables are turned and the ghosts are fair game.
The game offers players 95 stages in six different worlds. There are nine new friends to unlock while playing. The friends feature a unique power like invisibility, wall crashing, and illumination.
Another unique feature is the five different control modes that players can take advantage of in the game. My recommendation is the simple tilt control scheme.
Pac-Man Friends is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. As usual for this type of game, there are a number of in-app purchases available.
And if you have Pac-Man fever, there are a number of other games featuring the character in the App Store. My favorite is the classic Pac-Man, which will set you back $6.99.
