Tiggly Counts brings early learning math skills to the iPad generation
The Tiggly family is growing. After introducing Tiggly Shapes last year, Kidtellect is back with a math-oriented learning toy – Tiggly Counts.
Designed for kids 3 and older, the system is made of both a physical and virtual component. The five actual toys represent the numbers one through five. Inspired by the classic Cuisenaire rods used in Montessori learning environments, the blocks are lightweight and colorful and can be used with any iPad or iPad mini.
The shapes are soft and easy to hold by smaller hands. The bottom of each number contains capacitive-touch technology that can safely interact with Apple’s tablet.
The complete set of toys represent the numbers one through five.
Together with the three companion apps, the system can help children develop counting skills, basic math operations like addition and subtraction, and number sense.

My 3-year-old son and I have gotten the chance to try out the toys and all three apps the past few days. And unsurprisingly, Tiggly Counts has been a hit at my house.
Easily his favorite app has been Tiggly Chef. Kids can prepare crazy recipes with the Tiggly Town’s greatest cook while learning addition concepts, math symbols, and general problem solving.
He also had a lot of fun with the two other free apps – Tiggly Cardtoons and Tiggly Addventure which teach other basic math concepts.
All three apps will soon be available to download from the App Store for free so you can get a basic idea on how the system works. Using the toys will unlock the premium version of each app for no charge.
