Watch Apple's promo videos for the iPad Air 2 and the iMac with Retina 5K display

October 17, 2014

Having made the complete video of its special media event earlier today available to stream on its website, Apple has now also posted the promo videos from the event on YouTube.

First, there’s the brief promo video for the iPad Air 2. At just half a minute, the video plays like a teaser trailer for the new 9.7-inch iPad. It shows that the iPad Air 2 is even thinner than its predecessor by laser-cutting a considerable portion of a pencil, to which the thinness and versatility of the first iPad Air was compared:

Also running at just half a minute is the video reveal for the new iMac with Retina 5K display. It shows the evolution of Apple’s Retina display technology, from its first appearance on the iPhone to its use on the iPad, the iPad mini, the MacBook Pro, and now, the 27-inch iMac:

The new iMac with Retina 5K display is the focus of the third and final promo video. It has Dan Riccio, SVP of hardware engineering at Apple, and Bryce Duffy, a professional photographer, highlighting some of the key features of the new desktop computer. These include its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution with 14.7 million pixels, oxide TFT technology, a time controller mechanism for directing millions of pixels, improved contrast ratio, and enhanced energy efficiency:
