After 3 long years, Kairosoft's Game Dev Story finally gets an update

November 22, 2014

Kairosoft’s Game Dev Story, the immensely popular iOS port of the Japanese PC classic, has received its first bug-fixing update in more than three years.

You can pick up the application for $4.99 on the App Store, and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. In it, iOS gamers are charged with creating their own video game development company: you can invent your own console, hire and train professionals, and produce popular games for the masses in Kairosoft’s fun title.

This week, the folks at Kairosoft have given Game Dev Story some love – just a little, but enough to make us happy. Listed as “minor issues” in the app’s release notes, the bug fixes made in version 1.2.0 of the app will be appreciated by owners of Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Namely, graphical problems which had plagued Game Dev Story while running on the newer handsets have now been corrected. Though true, native support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is still missing in Game Dev Story (we’d be surprised if it ever appears in the app), the game is at least now playable on both smartphones.
