Google is expanding its Inbox invitation program with today’s 'Happy Hour'

November 5, 2014

Still waiting for an invitation to Google’s new Inbox app for the iPhone? We’ve got some good news for you.

The service’s official Twitter feed recently announced an “Inbox Happy Hour” from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. PST today. And instead of discounted drinks, you’ll receive something else when you email inbox@google.com.

Once you receive the invitation, you’ll need to download the free iPhone/iPod touch app on the App Store. Just to note, you won’t be able to use Inbox with a work-based Gmail account. Currently, it only works with personal Gmail accounts.

Arriving late last month, the app hopes to bring a new way to look at your inbox overload. Working on the Web site and Android devices as well, it brings a trio of interesting features. Along with Bundles, which allows users to deal with similar types of email at once, Highlights can display important info from an inbox.

Snooze and Reminders can help users mark important information to deal with later.

I’ve been using Inbox for more than a week on my iPhone and have really been impressed. While I tried other third-party email clients like Mailbox, I have always returned to Apple’s solution.

But in the disaster area that is my personal email account, Inbox has really made a difference. Definitely take advantage of the Happy Hour if you want to try it out.
