The new SanDisk iXpand Flash brings more storage to your iPhone or iPad
If you’re looking for an efficient way to transfer photos, videos, and music from your iOS device to a Mac or PC, SanDisk has just unveiled an interesting device – the iXpand Flash.
Along with being a USB flash drive, the device contains a built-in Lightning plug. With the companion iXpand app, users can automatically copy their photos from an iPhone or iPad to the flash drive or play movies stored on the unit.
The app also provides cross-platform encryption for files. With the app, files can be password protected directly on an iOS device and then decrypted on their Mac or PC.
You can purchase the 16GB and 64GB versions of the iXpand Flash now from SanDisk’s site for $59.99 and $119.99, respectively. Starting on Sunday, Nov. 16, Best Buy will also offers those two models, and will be the exclusive provider of the 32GB version, retailing for $79.99.
Much like the iStick, which hit Kickstarter earlier this year, the iXpand Flash does sound like a handy accessory for iPhone and iPad users. Even though it can only be used for certain types of media, the pricing structure for SanDisk’s product is at least a little more reasonable than the iStick.
