Before the Apple Watch arrives in early 2015, Pebble is looking to expand its user base

December 9, 2014

With the Apple Watch scheduled to hit the market early next year, smart watch pioneer Pebble is hard at work attempting to expand its user base.

The company has just introduced a new update for its companion iOS app. Version 2.6 finally brings a trio of new languages to the app and its appstore – French, German, and Spanish. Previously, only English was supported.

Users can change the language in the app’s Settings menu. The selected language will also appear on the Pebble device itself.

Owners of an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus should also be happy to know that the app display interface is now optimized for the higher-resolution screens of both handsets. A future version will bring sharpened images for the iPhone 6 Plus.

Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, the Pebble app can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. You’ll need to have iOS 7 or later installed on your device.

And if you can’t wait for Apple’s wearable, the Pebble is a great alternative. The original model can be purchased now for $99, and has been on sale for as low as $79 earlier during the holiday shopping season. The Pebble Steel is $199.
