CES 2015: Misfit and Swarovski announce the first solar-powered fitness tracker
Who says activity trackers can’t be fashionable? At CES 2015 in Las Vegas, Misfit has announced a partnership with jewelry maker Swarovski for a lineup of new trackers and accessories.
The violet Swarovski Shine, thanks to “energy crystal” technology, runs completely on solar energy and can be recharged by the sun or indoor lighting. A clear version of the tracker requires a battery.
Just like Misfit’s other devices, the Shine and Flash, the Swarovski Shine can track steps, distance walked, calories burned, sleep quality, and sleep duration. Since the tracker doesn’t have any type of screen, users can view their data with the companion Misfit iOS app.

The new trackers are being offered in a set along with different accessories, like a pendant or sports bracelet. Prices range from $169 to $249. All of the new accessories, which can be purchased separately, can also be used with the Shine tracker.
More information about the trackers and accessories can be found on Misfit’s online store. All the items are available to preorder immediately with delivery sometime in the spring.
