Best new apps of the week: The 'Do' Trio from IFTTT and Storm
Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-have download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!
The “DO” Trio from IFTTTDo you love the web service, IFTTT (If This, Then That), for the powerful automation recipes that you can create with various Web-connected services? Then you are going to love our Apps of the Week, which consists of the new “DO” app trio from IFTTT: Do Button, Do Camera, and Do Note.
While you can continue to use the original IFTTT app (now renamed IF), these three new apps are designed to make your life easier when it comes to single tasks, images, and text notes. While these are three separate apps, they all deal with singular items and make activating recipes faster than ever.
Do Button will create a virtual button for individual tasks that you can set up via recipes. An example of this is a button that allows you to turn up your Nest thermostat to 68 degrees, and another button for turning on your Philips Hue lights. The app allots up to three buttons at a time, and these can be added to the Today section in Notification Center as a widget.
Do Camera is the second app, and is the same as Do Button, except it is for your images. With this, you can set up a button to post your photos to Blogger, or you can save inspiring image ideas to Evernote.
Do Note is the final app in the trio, and it has a focus on text. The buttons you can create with this one can be used for posting quick tweets, emailing notes, or updating LinkedIn.
All of the mentioned uses are just ideas, and many more can be found when you begin tinkering around with the apps themselves. We are big fans of the IFTTT service, so we are excited to give these new button apps a whirl. If you want to make your life simpler, make sure to give these three apps a try. You can get Do Button, Do Camera, and Do Note in the iPhone App Store for free.
