The new LG Watch Urbane doesn't try to be an Apple Watch

LG has announced the company’s newest wearable device, the LG Watch Urbane. Like the LG G Watch R before it, the LG Watch Urbane features a full circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display.

Designed “for a sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer that delivers unparalleled technology and performance,” the LG Watch Urbane has a stainless steel body available with a polished silver or gold finish. It ships with a stitched natural leather strap, which can be replaced with any 22mm wide band.

Full features include:

  • Chipset: 1.2GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon 400
  • Operating System: Android Wear
  • Display: 1.3-inch P-OLED Display (320 x 320, 245ppi)
  • Size: 45.5 x 52.2 x 10.9mm
  • Memory: 4GB eMMC/ 512MB LPDDR2
  • Battery: 410mAh
  • Sensors: 9-Axis (Gyro / Accelerometer / Compass) / Barometer /PPG (Heart Rate Sensor)
  • Colors: Gold / Silver
  • Other: Dust and Water Resistant (IP67)

One of the things I really like about the LG Watch Urbane is that it doesn’t look like a gadget. Instead, it looks like a classic watch. This design choice could go a long way at distinguishing it from other smart watches, including the upcoming Apple Watch.

The LG Watch Urbane is expected to launch in the coming weeks at a price to be determined.

The wearable device will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, which begins on March 2 in Barcelona, Spain.
