The 9 best App Store apps and games in March include AG Drive, Carrot Weather and more
In the past month, AppAdvice has highlighted some pretty amazing apps from the App Store. Here’s a look back at the ones we found were the best each week in March:
App of the weekForge by Adonit, March 2, Free, iPad only
What we said: So what is Forge? It is essentially a digital workbook and storyboard app for your iPad and iPad mini. The app has a simple and clean interface that is fairly straightforward and intuitive to use, regardless of whether you’re using a stylus or your finger.
Breaking ~ News in your Today tab, March 10, $2.99, Universal
What we said: This is a very simple app at its core, but an effective and useful one at that. The app itself features a bare-bones interface, where it just lists your added feeds and a search bar to look for your favorite sites.
Google Calendar, March 16, Free, iPhone only
What we said: The color coded blocks are bright and vibrant, the typeface is gorgeous and legible, and there is emphasis on visuals for contacts and places, which is a nice touch that you don’t ordinarily see in a calendar app.
Carrot Weather, March 23, $2.99, Universal
What we said: The colors are bright and vibrant, and the animated themes to match the current weather conditions are lovely eye candy. On top of that, Carrot Weather has over 2,000 lines of snarky commentary on the weather, so you’re bound to get a laugh or two out of it.
Filters for iPhone, March 30, $0.99, iPhone only
What we said: These tools are able to bring a new mood and tone to images that you aren’t able to get in other apps, and it can intelligently assess image color data to add drama, vibrancy, or just get the perfect retro look for your image.
Game of the weekAG Drive, March 6, $3.99, Universal
What we said: We are always up for a good racing game here at AppAdvice, so AG Drive has been one of our favorites lately. If you love fast-paced futuristic racers, then definitely give this one a try.
Blockwick 2, March 13, $2.99, Universal
What we said: The goal is to connect all the like-colored blocks together, with an illumination bonus if you can get them on top of all of the glyphs on the screen. Of course, this is easier said than done once you have many obstacle blocks and new mechanics added to the mix.
Paper Monsters Recut, March 20, $2.99, Universal
What we said: Like other platformer games on the App Store, controls are easy enough. Just move your thumb around in the bottom left corner to move left or right. A tap on the right side of the screen lets you jump, and two taps equates to a double jump.
Adventures of Poco Eco – Lost Sounds, March 27, $2.99, Universal
What we said: The visuals here are stunningly gorgeous, as it features lush 3-D stages and environments that are all carefully thought out.
