The New York Times app for the iPhone updated with a revamped design and Apple Watch support
The New York Times app for the iPhone has taken a big step forward with a recent update, moving to version 5.0.
First up, the app has been redesigned to be more visual and is highlighted by photos and videos that cover the screen from edge to edge.
With the Story Groups feature, readers can view related articles, videos, and interactive graphics selected by editors to help put the latest news in context.
During weekday mornings, take a look for the daily briefings section at the top of the app that will help keep readers prepared for the day ahead. Breaking news alerts are also now linked directly to stories, just swipe or tap on an alert to read the information.
And the update also brings support for the Apple Watch, which will officially hit the market on Friday.
Watch users will be able to view one-sentence stories designed specifically for the wearable. Readers will be able to view news at a glance from sections of the daily newspaper like Business, Politics, Science, Tech, and The Arts.
If you find and interesting story on the watch, it can be saved to read later, or you can use Handoff to pickup right where you left off on an iPhone.

NYTimes is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. Users can read up to 10 stories per month for free.
With an in-app subscription of $14.99 per month, readers will receive unlimited access to stories in the app on the publication’s site.
As a nice touch, the new update offers support for popular password apps 1Password and LastPass so users can easily protect their log-in information.
