Take a trip back in time with Spotify Rewind
Get ready to jump back into the nearest time machine with Spotify’s new Rewind feature.
Rewind hasn’t officially been announced but was first discovered earlier today by VentureBeat. It isn’t available on the iOS app just yet, but can be accessed on the Web here.
After signing in, the feature requires you select three current artists that you like. I selected Hozier, Walk the Moon, and Paul McCartney.
The site then created playlists from a number of decades. And I really enjoyed the music selected, even a fun 1920s playlist. Even though the feature isn’t currently available on the iPhone or iPad, you can save the playlists for later listening on your iOS device.
Spotify’s app is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. A subscription will set you back $9.99 per month.
Back in May, Spotify made some other significant changes by adding videos and podcasts to the service.
As you probably know, the streaming music market is about to get even more crowded when Apple Music debuts with the introduction of iOS 8.4 later this month on Tuesday, June 30.
Apple’s own take will also cost $9.99 per month while a family plan for up to six users will be $14.99 monthly. Users will receive a three-month free trial to the service. Along with the streaming music catalog and Beats 1 Radio station, the Connect feature is designed to give users a look into the lives of their favorite artists.
