Apple’s Smart Keyboard won’t be the only option when the iPad Pro launches

When the iPad Pro hits the market sometime in November, buyers looking for a keyboard attachment will have at least one other option besides Apple’s Smart Keyboard.

Logitech recently announced that its own Create Keyboard Case will be available when the tablet arrives in stores.

Interestingly, Apple worked closely with Logitech to develop the keyboard, which takes advantage of the iPad Pro’s new Smart Connector. Instead of depending on a Bluetooth connection and battery power like other add-on keyboards, the connector allows the device to always have power and a direct link to the iOS device.

Along with a full-size keyboard, Logitech’s option will be covered with premium fabric that should resist bumps, scratches, and spills.

While Apple’s keyboard will cost $169, Logitech didn’t announce a retail price for its keyboard, but did say additional information will be released in the coming weeks.

It’s definitely interesting to see Apple teaming up with Logitech to design a competing option. At least for me, it shows how important Apple believes the Smart Connector and keyboards will be to the iPad Pro’s long-term success

Along with a larger 12.9-inch screen, the tablet features an A9X chip, four speakers, and more. Here’s the pricing for the three different models.

  • $799 for 32 GB Wi-Fi
  • $949 for 128 GB Wi-Fi
  • $1,079 for 128 GB Wi-Fi plus cellular

Another optional accessory for the tablet will be the Apple Pencil, which will cost $99. It’s a pressure-sensitive stylus.
