Logitech branches out with its new Logi Circle home monitoring camera
Well-known for its stable of iOS device accessories including cases, keyboards, and much more, Logitech continues to branch out after announcing the new Logi label earlier this summer. The company has just introduced the Logi Circle home video camera.
Much like the Nest Cam or FLIR FX, the Circle is designed to show you what’s happening at home when you’re not around. But it does offer some unique features.
With the companion app, users can stream video and even hear what’s happening at their home. You can even communicate with the 2-Way Talk and Listen functionality. Smart video filtering learns your patterns and only sends push notifications when interesting activity is sensed. To provide a complete snapshot of what happens at home, Day Briefs are an automatically composed 30-second summary of the last 24 hours.
Another unique feature of the Circle is its portability and rechargeable battery. When not placed on the included magnetic charging ring, the camera can stream video for up to three hours on a single charge and last for up to 12 hours in power save mode.
You can preorder the Circle now for $199.99 from a number of retailers and Logitech’s site. Units are scheduled to ship starting sometime next month.
While the Circle retails for the same price as a number of similar devices, the combination of portability and video filtering is definitely an interesting proposition. Keep a watch out as we’ll be reviewing the Circle soon and seeing how it stacks up to the competition.
