1Blocker's new version could be the best content blocker for iOS
A recently updated iOS application, 1Blocker, could offer iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners the best content blocker for Apple’s mobile OS. And guess what? You can download the universal app free of charge on the App Store.
As far as content blockers go, until fairly recently 1Blocker offered the usual selection of features. It’s fast, it works with iOS 9, and it has the potential to vastly improve your Safari-powered mobile Web browsing experience. Usefully, 1Blocker features 8,000 preinstalled “highly configurable” blockers for iOS device owners to play around with, too.
The recent 1.1 update, however, adds two new features into the mix. First, it’s now possible to whitelist (i.e., un-ad-block) certain sites from inside a Safari extension. Moreover, it’s easy to do this: just visit the website you’d like 1Blocker to leave alone, and call on the 1Blocker whitelisting extension from inside Safari’s action menu.
Second, 1Blocker users can now block “obtrusive EU cookies notices,” which residents of Europe, myself included, will be familiar with. As such, you’ll no longer need a dedicated iOS application, like Mr. Crumble, in order to do this. Instead, 1Blocker can do the job for you.
From where we stand, 1Blocker is, literally, the one blocker you’ll ever need for your iOS device. Its most recent update brings it up to speed with everything the content blocking market can offer. And most of the time, the tools available in 1Blocker feature across multiple apps. To have them all inside the same application is hugely convenient.
The latest version of the app, 1Blocker 1.1, can be downloaded now on the App Store. It’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is free of charge (with a $2.99 in-app purchase offering users access to “unlimited blockers”).
