As expected, the new Apple TV arrives in Apple’s retail stores today, Oct. 30, just in time for your Halloween scary movie marathon. But if you’d prefer not to go through the entire purchasing process at an Apple Store and instead be ready to just pick it up once you get there, you totally can.
As it happens, Apple’s fourth-generation set-top box is available for in-store pickup today. To reserve your new Apple TV for pickup at an Apple retail store, just purchase the device online via Apple’s online store or using the official Apple Store app.
Instead of choosing delivery for your order (which takes up to three days), opt for in-store pickup instead by tapping “Check Availability” on the order page (right below the line that says “Available for pickup”). You can then check the pickup availability of the product at nearby stores or at stores searchable by city or zip code. Tap the store where you’d like to fetch your order and then proceed with your payment to complete your reservation.
The new Apple TV costs $149 for the 32GB model and $199 for the 64GB model. (Not sure which model is the right one for you? Check out our article.)
Announced early last month, the fourth-generation Apple TV constitutes a major update to the Apple TV platform with the introduction of a new operating system, tvOS, with support for an app store for downloading apps to the device. It also comes with a new touch-optimized Apple TV remote with Siri integration and motion sensing.
So order now and feel free to roll over to an Apple retail store near you anytime you want today to pick up your shiny new Apple TV.
