One of Apple’s top games of the year, Fallout Shelter, receives a nice update

Fallout Shelter, which was named Apple’s runner-up game of the year for 2015, has just received a nice update with the move to version 1.3.

Originally landing earlier this summer, the game ties in with the Fallout console game series and blends a number of genres into an interesting package.

Gamers are in charge of creating their own underground vault to help keep their residents safe, happy, and healthy even with a nuclear wasteland outside. As the overseer, you’ll have to select what rooms to build and assign residents to different workstations.

Say hello to pets

Furry friends can now come to your underground shelter.

The biggest addition in the update is that players can now have pets in their vaults – including cats and dogs. That should help make the gameplay even more interesting.

Also, vault overseers now have the ability to permanently evict dwellers who are slacking.

Here are the rest of the changes:

• Bored with the same pickup lines and conversations? Dwellers have finally learned some new ways to impress other dwellers and the opposite sex.
• Excessive tapping causing frustration when trying to clear out excess inventory? Overseers will love the new sell all options.
• Dweller management improvements and new objectives should help experienced Overseers keep things running smoothly.
• Even more Vault-Tec certified improvements and optimizations. Because you can never have enough improvements or optimizations.

Wrapup

Fallout Shelter is one strategy game you don’t want to miss.

Fallout Shelter is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. There are a number of in-app purchases available to help speed up play including robot helpers, Mr. Handy, lunchboxes, and more.

Developer Bethesda has done a great job making the fun game even better since launch. Before today’s update, the last major addition back in October added iCloud sync, Survival Mode, and other goodies.
