If you’re needing a backup battery to take pretty much anywhere, Scosche has just unveiled its new rugged goBAT 12000 option.

As you could probably tell by the name, the battery is a 12,000mAH cell able to recharge an iPhone 6s up to six times. It features dual 2.4A USB ports that can detect and provide the fastest possible charging speed for an iPhone, iPad, or other device. Multi-color LEDs will display the battery power level.

The battery is completely waterproof in up to 3 meters of water and dustproof. The outer housing is also designed to protect against drops and shocks.

It can be purchased now directly from the company’s site for $99.99. A metal alloy loop and carabiner is also included to attach the battery to your gear.

Another option

If you’re willing to wait, another great rugged battery option looks to be Braven’s BRV-BANK PRO LE officially unveiled last week at CES.

While the battery is only half as big as Scosche’s, the power bank can be used with a number of other optional and handy accessories. Some options include a solar charging panel, multi-tool, GoPro-compatible action mount, and stacking plate. Accessories are designed to fit both the speaker and battery.

Braven’s battery does offer connectivity and can be used with optional accessories.

The battery also sports Bluetooth connectivity so users can control it with the companion app. That means you’ll be able to find the bank if it is lost, monitor the power levels, and turn each USB port on or off.

You can also activate two unique modes – Find Me and Bear. Find Me activates a universal distress signal and sends a visual Morse code using the flashlight. Bear mode will turn on the phone’s motion sensor and alert the battery to sound an alarm when the handset is moved.

The system will retail for $129.99 and be available sometime during the first quarter of this year.
