Pocket's latest update adds customization options for Premium subscribers

Pocket, one of the best read-it-later services available on iOS, has released an update that should bring a smile to the faces of Pocket Premium subscribers.

You can pick up Pocket 6.2.0 now on the App Store; as before it’s optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad, and is available free of charge. According to the release notes, the Pocket team is offering “a new customizable reading experience” for the service’s Premium users (which, we might add, can be unlocked inside of the application for a monthly $4.99 IAP).

Pocket Premium subscribers can now choose between 7 beautiful new reading fonts, and fine-tune their reading layout with custom margin width and line-height spacing options.

There’s also an all-new Auto Dark Mode for Pocket Premium users, and this sees the application switch the reading theme based on both location and ambient light. This, of course, should make it more comfortable for users to read articles inside of the Pocket iOS application.

For regular users, however, Pocket 6.2.0 brings some new additions, too. In the release notes, Pocket adds:

  • Fixed a layout issue when launching Pocket in landscape orientation on iPad
  • Fixed an issue where highlighted text wasn’t included when sharing to other apps
  • Reduced the number of taps required for sharing to Evernote
  • Additional bug fixes and improvements

On a final note, Pocket 6.2.0 adds a new font, Dyslexia, which aims to make the reading experience offered in the application easier for users with dyslexia. This fortunately isn’t reserved for Pocket Premium subscribers, which is something we’re pleased to see.

So, as mentioned, you can download Pocket now; the application is optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad, and it’s available free of charge.
