Adorable 3-D Platformer Suzy Cube Is Coming Soon to iOS
The 3-D platformer isn’t the strongest genre on the App Store. During GDC 2017 in San Francisco, California, one developer, Louard, shared with Trevor Sheridan its plans to change all of that. The upcoming title Suzy Cube draws inspiration from Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, along with several other console-based 3-D platformers, with an eye towards mobile devices.
A 3-D Platformer Taking Shape Before Our Eyes
Suzy Cube is still in development, but the feature set is definitely taking shape. The developer plans to offer five worlds with five levels each. The three primary levels will be followed by a boss battle, and then a special stage for each world. On average, a level will take about three minutes to complete.
Unique Nuances for Each Level
While the different levels for a world will share common characteristics, each one will have one or two nuances to keep things fresh. You’ll learn new game mechanics as you progress through each level. You’ll collect coins and hidden stars along the way. There will also be hats to collect, which grant you power-ups like double jump, ground pound, and more.
A Boss That Learns As You Do
The boss stages, according to the developer, will all feature the same foe. However, the bad guy learns new tricks as you pick up on fresh mechanics, so the epic fights grow more difficult as you progress through the game. In the special stages, you’ll enjoy new gimmicks like a 3-D optical illusion puzzle and more.
